Hello LibraZiK-ies.

Since last month's monthly report post, things have been happening, of which the news on the website represent the majority of the work that has been done for LibraZiK during this month. That said, other things have also happened, and we'll see this together in this post.

The French translation of Guitarix, a guitar amp and effects simulation, had been abandoned several years ago. The visible consequence was that its graphical interface was half translated. This is a small update to OpenMPT 1.29, focussing on correcting a number of playback bugs in imported formats:

• When entering a restart position that points to a non-playable order item, immediately show the corrected value when the input field loses focus.
• When inverting icons in high contrast / dark themes, only invert their brightness but keep the hue.
• Since OpenMPT 1.29.01.00, Note Off / Cut / Fade shortcuts were missing in new installations, when resetting keys to defaults or when importing very old OpenMPT keyboard configurations.
• Fix possible crash when resetting keyboard mapping while a separator item was focussed.
• MIDI Export: In "Melodic (any)" mode, exported MIDI channels were inconsistent between notes / tracker events and Zxx macros past channel 10.

• The score and keys can now scroll in reverse, i.e. going from the keyboard to the top of the screen (#64)
• Playback speed can be adjusted (#72)
• Pedals will vary their opacity depending on the velocity of the press, and the expression pedal is now supported (#79)

• Background and particle image paths are now saved in configuration files and can be specified on the command-line. If found, they will then automatically be loaded (#73)
• You can now adjust the scale of the GUI in the display options or using the --gui-size command-line argument (#76)

• It is now possible to generate a 2D spline from an arbitrary set of parametric equations.
  Right-click on the spline and press "generate curve" to do so.

A live-image is available now. It allows, at first, to test LibraZiK-3 on a USB key without installing it on a hard disk.

You can then use it to install LibraZiK-3 on a hard disk if you decide to do so.

This live version includes a pre-selection of several software, a set of pre-settings, and is designed to allow users to test LibraZiK-3 without installing it on a machine but by booting the system from a USB key. For more than a year, we have only brought you little bugfix updates to make OpenMPT 1.28 more stable and improve some details, while working on OpenMPT 1.29 at the same time. It took us way longer than expected, but now we are finally proud to release this new milestone, and it brings a great number of new features, improvements and bugfixes.

Here is a short summary of the most notable new features:

Breaking Changes:

• Support for Windows XP and Windows Vista has been dropped. Pre-SSE2 x86 CPUs are no longer supported. This includes Intel Pentium 3 and older, AMD Athlon XP and older and various other third-party CPUs.
• A portable installation of OpenMPT is now identified by the presence of a file called "OpenMPT.portable" rather than an entry in mptrack.ini. Existing portable installations are migrated accordingly.
• mptrack.exe was renamed to OpenMPT.exe. Please update any old custom shortcuts or file associations to point to the new executable. For existing installations, the installer will try to create a symbolic link to keep the old filename working.

General improvements include:

This is a small update to OpenMPT 1.29, improving existing features and fixing a number of bugs:

• In the tree view, natural sort order is now used for filenames (e.g. "Sample 10.flac" is sorted after "Sample 2.flac").
• Added possibility to use %channel_name% in pattern accessibility description format, which contains the channel name in addition to its index.
• The start and end point of an existing sample selection can now be modified by dragging them with the mouse.
• Playback position indication in the sample and instrument editor did not work when using a pattern-specific playback function (e.g. "play from current pattern") and the module was not playing before that.
• Slicing at cue points lost the first part of the sample if some cue point was 0.
• Trimming and resampling didn't adjust cue points accordingly.
• Sample frequency to transpose + finetune conversion was wrong if the resulting transpose value was negative.
• Support loading and saving (but not editing for now, apart from using the clipboard) command W, which is used e.g. by BASS for syncing purposes.
• PLM: Percentage offset (Mxx) was slightly off.
• Channel Manager is no longer redrawn on almost every unrelated UI update.

• JIT addon has been merged into mainline, this will need heavy testing on all platforms. :-) most things should be broken in that release though, it's mostly for testing the release process.

• To test: download the {platform}-sdk.zip file, extract it in the user library, subfolder SDK so that it looks like "Documents/ossia score library/SDK/usr/"

the private common function doesn't.

Mark the private common function static to clarify this

SDL Preset Searching

This is a small update to OpenMPT 1.29, improving existing features, fixing a number of bugs and adding support for a new sample file format:

• Added support for BRR (SNES Bit Rate Reduction) sample format import.
• In the tree view, hidden files are now shown if Windows Explorer is configured to do so. System files are now shown unless they are also hidden, as this is closer to Explorer's behaviour.
• Fixed some small visual issues when deleting a pattern or undoing the deletion of a pattern in the tree view and order list.
• Choosing Pattern Properties from the order list context menu always showed the properties of the currently edited pattern.
• It is now possible to redo the deletion of a pattern.
• MID: Support files with initial negative delta time. This is not valid according to the standard, but such files exist in the wild.
• PP20: The first few bytes of some files were not decompressed properly, making some files unplayable (depending on the original format).
• In file dialogs that can open multiple files, it is now possible to open files from different locations (e.g. through search results).
• Channel Manager: Middle-clicking a channel now shows the quick channel settings

What's new:

• Autoplay parameters fixed

• PAT2SMP now has higher quality sound. Especially noticable in LO mode
• PAT2SMP LO mode now uses 20864Hz (E-3 finetune 0) instead of 22168Hz (F-3 finetune +1) for slightly more room, and still has better quality than before because of the improvement above!
• The optional 2x downsample during sample load is now of better quality. Or it should be, at least...
• Fixed some bugs in the "sampling" screen (SAMPLER screen -> Sample)
• The sampling feature now takes up less CPU time while downsampling. Also fixed a small error in the sinc resampling interpolation
• Don't block GUI input and don't show red mouse pointer for a while every time you cancel a requester. No idea why PT did this in the first place, what a workflow limiter!
• Bugfix: Don't reset playback time counter on "play pattern"
• protracker.ini: "A500LOWPASSFILTER" has been replaced with "FILTERMODEL" (A1200 or A500). Removed NORMALIZESAMPLING and SAMPLELOWPASS (deprecated).
